Ground Handling Application

Improving the everyday workflow of SAS ground handling agents.

SAS Collaboration.

We and SAS collaborated to create a new, platform-independent ground handling application. This cutting-edge application allows tasks that were previously confined to the Amadeus Altea system on desktop computers to be performed on mobile devices or any other platform. This advancement significantly enhances staff mobility and flexibility. By enabling agents to move freely throughout the airport, the application helps reduce queues and speeds up passenger processing, ultimately improving operational efficiency and customer service.

Maximizing airline efficiency

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) is Scandinavia’s leading airline, carrying more than 30 million passengers on 170 aircraft annually, with 125 destinations in Europe, US and Asia. As a pioneering digital innovator, SAS has a digital infrastructure strategy to streamline operations, increase staff mobility, give customers a better traveling experience and maintain profitability. Airlines gain a lot on automation and mobility in order to streamline and make the whole boarding process simpler and easier for their ground handlers and passengers. Everything can be solved on the iPad or Android device and the mobility saves a lot of time. The floor walker can manage their tasks were it is most convenient for them to be.

In collaboration with SAS, our design and development team has successfully delivered a user-friendly app tailored specifically for gate agents, simplifying their tasks and enhancing operational efficiency.

The App

The SAS Ground Handling App enables gate agents to check in and board passengers anywhere using a smartphone, speeding up boarding and enhancing the passenger experience while reducing floor space costs. The app is fully responsive and compatible with all devices, allowing agents to scan boarding passes, bag tags, and passports for faster processing. Significant resources have been invested in design and UX to ensure intuitive use of its complex features.The app is fully integrated with Amadeus DCS, and provides reliable data handling, giving agents access to comprehensive airline information seamlessly.
Objective's in-house UX and graphical design team ensures the app offers a cutting-edge user experience. It's intuitive and self-explanatory, minimizing staff training needs. Employees can now scan boarding passes and passports anywhere in the airport, serving as a vital backup during busy times or equipment malfunctions. This reduces dependence on airport infrastructure. The SAS Ground Handling App boosts efficiency, cuts costs, and enhances customer experience. With fewer agents, SAS delivers superior service using a single mobile app for all tasks, previously requiring access to a counter and desktop computer. The app's rapid adoption has led to substantial scanner cost savings.
